چکیده

The applicabilty of superconductors to antennas is examined. Potential implementations that are examined are superdirective arrays; electrically small antennas; tuning and matching of these two; high-gain millimeter-wavelength arrays; and kinetic inductance slow wave structures for array phasers and traveling wave array feeds. Superdirective arrays and small antennas will not benefit directly, but their tuning/matching networks will undergo major improvements. Miniaturization of antennas will not be aided, but much higher gain millimeter-wave arrays will be realizable. Finally, kinetic inductance slow wave lines appear advantageous for array phasers and time delay, as well as for traveling wave array feeds.

New Low Cost Printed Antenna CPW-Fed for Global Positioning System, Personal Communication System and Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access Band Applications (TECHNICAL NOTE)

This paper presents a new design of a CPW-Fed multi bands planar antenna. This antenna can be integrated easily with passive and active elements. The proposed antenna is suitable to operate for GPS, PCS and WiMAX bands. Its entire area is 52.3x52.6mm2 and is employed on an FR-4 epoxy substrate and fed by a 50 Ohm coplanar line. The antenna parameters have been analyzed and optimized by using AD...

Integration of semiconductor and ceramic superconductor devices for microwave applications - Magnetics, IEEE Transactions on

Due to the very low-loss properties of ceramic superconductors high-performance microwave resonators and filters can be realized. The fact that these devices may be operated at liquid nitrogen temperature, facilitates the integration with semiconductor devices. Examples are bandpass amplifiers, microwave-operated SQUIDS combined with GaAs preamplifiers, detectors, and MOSFET low-frequency ampli...

Quasi-Optical Transmit/Receive Front Ends - Microwave Theory and Techniques, IEEE Transactions on

Quasi-optical (QO) active circuits have originally received interest for power generation by large-scale power combining of solid-state devices at microwave and millimeter-wave frequencies. Here, we present an overview of QO components developed with functionality in mind, with an emphasis on bidirectional amplifier arrays for transmit/receive (T/R) front ends. We discuss possible advantages of...

A Dual-Polarized Slot Antenna for Millimeter Waves - Antennas and Propagation, IEEE Transactions on

We describe a new dual-polarized slot antenna to be used with quasi-optical devices such as superconductor-insulatorsuperconductor (SIS) mixers at millimeter and submillimeter wavelengths. The radiation and impedance characteristics of the antenna were obtained from a moment-method calculation. The antenna has an excellent radiation pattern, a low impedance, wide bandwidth, and low cross polari...
